God Ryan is good at what he does. This is an excerpt from a surfline piece. One that really sums up the way i feel about contest surfing and just life in general. I strongly suggest that any kid wanting to be a pro surfer always keeps this in mind.
“He really deserved it,” someone remarks.
“It’s great when hard work wins it,” a bunch of others quip.
Conner smiles. “People say that. They say I’m a hard worker, but I don’t call it work — I go to the beach every day. I get up early and go surfing. I don’t go to the gym. I’m just having more fun than anyone — I swear to god. I’m having more fun than I could ever imagine. I think winning comes along with that. And makes it that much better.”
