This year I was fortunate to surf in the Hurley Pro down at Trestles. Being the lowest seed in the event I had the opportunity of surfing against the two top rated surfers in the world Mick Fanning and Joel Parkinson. I didn’t beat either of them, but I sure did have an amazing time and walked away with lots of knowledge gained about the sport of wave riding especially in it’s competitive form. First and foremost I want to thank Hurley for the amazing opportunity of surfing in the event. It is something I will remember for the rest of my life. I haven’t surfed in other World Tour events, but I’m pretty sure that the athletes at the Hurley Pro are treated better than at any other event. We had our own lockers equipped with an Ipad, towels, and wax. We had VIP parking with people to drive us down the trail. We were each given a customized Mophie case, a brand new Schwinn bicycle, and a killer speaker. I could rant and rave about the event for days, but I think you get the idea. It was an amazing week and I’m so very grateful for the opportunity. Having a taste of the World Tour and surfing against the best guys really motivates me to be on that tour some time in the near future. Until next time Mick and Parko… HAHAHA.
