Italy Blog #2

Conner

The other day we we pulled into a tiny town in Tuscany called Casanova. We parked our cars and then walked down an ancient dirt road and came to an enormous villa.  4 stories high, entirely made of stone, dark and damp on the inside, and corridors burrowing deep into the hill side. Two ladies walked out of a creaky door and introduced themselves in Italian. One looked to be in her mid thirties and one in her sixties.  They were dressed in old attire resembling people from hundreds of years ago. They explained to us about bio agriculture and how they believe that every plant and creature is connected to one another through a higher power in the universe. These two ladies grow everything completely naturally. Not a single antibiotic, not a single hormone, completely natural. We learned all about how they tend to their cows and make their cheese, and saw the cellars where they cure the cheese. We all hung out while they brought out plate after plate of cheese and bread fried in olive oil and herbs. These two ladies were two of the most special people  I have ever met and I am so grateful to have learned about their lives and beliefs.
