Back in November I took my phone out to Rincon in a new waterproof case designed by Mophie. It was an amazing afternoon and I paddled out on a longboard to take some photos and video while I rode some waves. When i was standing up on a wave I dropped the case because i didn’t have it strapped to anything and for some reason I assumed it floated. I turned around to grab it but it had already sunk to the bottom. I searched for it but had no such luck… I kissed that phone good bye and forgot about it a couple days later.
7 months later (last week), Parker and I are in Japan, but my mom gets a phone call from someone saying they think they found one of her sons phones on the beach at La Conchita (La Conchita is the beach about a mile down from Rincon). At first she was confused but then she asked if it was in a very sturdy waterproof case. The lady said yes and that she had taken the phone out of the case, charged it, and found the “mom” number in the contacts and called it. Sure enough the phone worked perfectly. We thought this was pretty amazing. Sort of a modern day message in a bottle type deal! Here are a few photos of the “Outride” case by Mophie. It is so scratched up but I would say 7 months bouncing around under water and winter swell is proof that this case is LEGIT.
