The Tails

Down South

Parker

Well, its getting to be that time of year where the waves get flat in our beloved Santa Barbara. In the summer months the Channel Islands block most of our beaches from the south swell in the summer time so we pack up the cars and head south. This particular shot is at Newport Beach. It’s summer, so its june gloom, and its crowded, but the waves are occasionally really fun. This day was the first time I had surfed in a week or so because I have been super sick with something that I picked up in Nicaragua. Lucky Tom Carey was there to capture this and hook me up with a full frame! Thanks to the boys over a Stab for featuring me. So Conner is off in South Africa for a WQS event in Ballito, and I’m currently packing up my room to head down to Acapulco for a WQS event. Coffin brothers are getting on that WQS grind! Alright hope everybody is enjoying their summer! Hopefully I have internet in Mexico so I can update you guys on some stuff… PEace!

Transworld Surf Cover/R.I.P.

Conner

A few months ago Parker and I went on a trip with Transworld Surf to Morocco. We stayed with the guys at Morroco Surf Adventures, surfed uncrowded mental waves every day, ate amazing food, and had an awesome time with awesome people. The boys over at Transworld are such good dudes and are always up for the best of times. Super fun, super good spirited, and just purely classic guys. They have always been good friends and last week I was sooooo stoked to find out that I got the cover of the latest issue of their surf mag. Then just yesterday we got the super disappointing news to hear that Transworld surf will no longer be a print magazine:( They will continue their website, but that’s all. We are sad to lose a great magazine and also see some of our good friends jobless at a difficult time. We will miss all of the good times boys. Thanks for everything and the cover! LEGENDS.

Nicaragua !

Hi!

I just got back from Nicaragua competing on the USA surf team at the Dakine ISA World Junior Championships. The contest was held at a really fun, but tricky, left wedge called Santanas. It was extremely hot and the waves were fun, but unfortunately I had an early round loss. I had a 7.17 and only needed a 3.17 and battled a French kid who ended up giving me a questionable interference. As always, interferences are tricky and I accepted my own mistakes, but was still obviously bummed on losing early for my team. However, we managed to place three surfers on the podium! Nikki Viesins, Frankie Harrer, and Jake Marshall helped us jump up to the bronze medal for over all team points.  The night we left was super gnarly. we had a bus pick us up at 1 am and drove us to the airport for a 630 flight. It’s not exactly easy to sleep on dirt roads with huge potholes so traveling I was pretty much a zombie. I woke up feeling pretty sick this morning so I’m just taking it easy. The US  Champs started today so I’m in san clemente trying to get better. Check it out ! Talk soon J

Profile: Eithan Osbourne

Conner

Eithan is our little buddy from Ventura. He is 13 years old likes to surf and is a black belt. He has lots of nicknames and surfs quite well. I think he won 16 NSSAs thie year. And westerns too. Nationals is next week and he will be running his Acorn suit with pride for the goldcoast region. Check out this little profile on Eithan.

Filmed and edited by Mr. Ryan Perry.

Oakley Dispatch Movie

Conner

Oakley gathered footage of the team throughout the year and put together this montage of pretty amazing surfing. Some really cool stuff in here. Especially of Seabass. He’s blowing up right now and rightfully so (did you see his heat against Taj??!!?!!). I managed to sneak a few waves in here too…. Enjoy!!!
