Recovered Cell Phone

Conner

Back in November I took my phone out to Rincon in a new waterproof case designed by Mophie. It was an amazing afternoon and I paddled out on a longboard to take some photos and video while I rode some waves. When i was standing up on a wave I dropped the case because i didn’t have it strapped to anything and for some reason I assumed it floated. I turned around to grab it but it had already sunk to the bottom. I searched for it but had no such luck… I kissed that phone good bye and forgot about it a couple days later.

7 months later (last week), Parker and I are in Japan, but my mom gets a phone call from someone saying they think they found one of her sons phones on the beach at La Conchita (La Conchita is the beach about a mile down from Rincon). At first she was confused but then she asked if it was in a very sturdy waterproof case. The lady said yes and that she had taken the phone out of the case, charged it, and found the “mom” number in the contacts and called it. Sure enough the phone worked perfectly. We thought this was pretty amazing. Sort of a modern day message in a bottle type deal! Here are a few photos of the “Outride” case by Mophie. It is so scratched up but I would say 7 months bouncing around under water and winter swell is proof that this case is LEGIT.

Kashmir.

Conner

Kashmir is a Led Zeppelin song. This video is an excerpt from It Might Get Loud which is a rad documentary type movie featuring Jack White, Jimmy Page, and The Edge. Jimmy Page and Jack White are two of my favorites. This is an awesome little piece where Jimmy Page breaks down the guts of Kashmir.

We’re in Japan!!!

And we are having an epic time. Japan is such a rad place, but what makes it so special is the people. The hospitality has been second to none and we are so appreciative of our Japanese friends. A huge thanks to Teppei Tajima, Kaito Ohashi, Arashi Kato, and Shuji Kasuya. They have taken such good care of us! We haven’t had any internet but here are a few photos.

Hurley One and Only

Conner

Hurley has been doing a series of videos titled “one and only.” Perry and I have worked on mine over the last few weeks and I’m pretty pumped on how it turned out. It’s mostly just some random bits and pieces of footage that we accumulated over the little while. Some Hawaii leftovers, a lowers session and then a quick Tahiti trip. The song is by a local Carpinteria band called Pleasure. They shred.

Bloopers

Conner

I had a pretty interesting session last night. The waves were really fun but it was really crowded and really back washy. It made for some great wipe out moments. Here’s a few bloopers.
