The Tails

Tail of the Week!!!

Parker

This is Sahara Ray. It’s funny because we’ve actually known Sahara for a long time because she used to do the NSSA Gold coast season with us. However, when I knew Sahara she wasn’t all grown up and a model. So yea, she went from being a gurfer in Santa Cruz to doing stuff like this. I vote she does this instead of surfing. Yay Sahara Ray!!!

Board Art

Conner

I haven’t painted a board in so long, but today, even though I should have been doing philosophy homework instead, I painted these three bad boys. I’m a terrible drawer, so I like to just go for more of the abstract vibe! Hahah.

Back to Hawaii!!!

Parker

I’ve been back here in Hawaii for a few weeks enjoying the scenery and the beginnings of a hopefully really fun winter. I have been staying at the Volcom house, which is located directly in front of the magical stretch of sand that Pipeline is on. The waves have been super fun the last week and it hasn’t been overly crowded in the lineups. Standouts so far this year have definitely included John Florence, Jamie O Brien, Jd Irons, Nate Florence,  Koa Smith, Koa Rothman, and Tamayo Perry. From the waves I have sat and watched, these guys have all gotten some super crazy waves. Now it’s November 3rd and people are starting to show up by the bus load and it’s definitely starting to get that crowded vibe. Along with the super fun waves, my family and girlfriend have been here to make it extremely relaxing and almost like a vacation! We have been eating at our favorite food truck, Pupukea Grill, on a daily basis and just having a good ol’ time ! I’m heading straight to Barbados from here to compete in a junior pro at Soupbowls. I’m really looking forward to heading over there and surfing hopefully some really fun waves with a jersey on. Weeeeeee! A big thanks to Volcom for letting me stay at the house and Tai Van Dyke, Dave Riddle, and Jason Shibata for being absolute legends and taking care of all of us at the house. Life is good!

Board blog

Conner

The other day I picked up my Hawaii quiver and came over to ride a few of them to warm up for Haleiwa. This one is a 6’2″ 18 1/2 2 1/4 Fred rubble step up. It has a five fin future set up. I’ve ridden this board the last few days in some smaller Haleiwa conditions and it works insane. Super fast and super maneuverable even in shoulder to head high waves. Can’t wait to ride it in some 4 foot Haleiwa!

Cascais Wave of The Day

Conner

Day one of the contest was held in super fun onshore chunky waves. It was hard to get the good ones, but if you did they were extremely shred-able. I ended up getting the highest score of the day…. here she is. Day three of the contest will be tomorrow and I’m in round three (3 man no loser round) against cj hobgood and jay thompson. Should be some fun waves and some damn good heats!
