Jersey Shore!

Parker

I just returned from an all time week of laughs and waves while hanging out on the lovely Jersey shore. Sadly there was no Snookie sightings and the Situation wasn’t fist bumping during heats of the bel mar pro, but we did score some super fun little waves during the contest. I stayed at the Schmidt’s house with a bunch of other junior competitors which was right on the sand of a really fun surfbreak. We had a great time laughing and surfing leading up to the event. When the comp started there were wedgie waist to chest high waves on offer and everybody in the comp was capitalizing on the fun conditions. Lucky for me, I managed to surf my way into the final of the event and watch a good friend Sam Orozco take the win. I couldn’t really find the waves that had scoring potential in the final so I had to settle with a 4th place finish. It wasn’t the result that I wanted but at the same time I was super stoked to make my second Junior final of the year. Cheers on the win Sammy and it’s on to the next comp which is the HIC Sunset Pro in October. But for now, we are heading off to the Mentawais on a surftrip. Keep you posted 😉

Cafe Luna Jam

Conner

Cafe Luna is a rad little restaurant in summerland a mere stones throw from my house. They have a sunny outdoor patio, a wood burning pizza oven, and delicious pizza among other tasty treats. They do it all from coffee in the morning, to dinner at night. Two of my buddies Donnie Hedden and Travers Adler have been playing music there pretty frequently for the last few weeks. I was finally home to join them yesterday. We played lots of 12 bar stuff and just some fun little circle jams. It was a beautiful sunny day and we sat outside and played for a few hours. Travers played his Les Paul, Donnie his Telecaster, and I played my Strat. Just some nice mellow Sunday afternoon type stuff. They each had a beer. I drank a green smoothie. Then we finished up by enjoying two insane pizzas (an arugula proscuitto and a calabrese). If you are in the vicinity on a nice day i recommend sitting on the patio and enjoying a coffee or perhaps a pizza and some tunes or perhaps a glass of wine…

Azores

Conner

I just got back yesterday from an epic trip to the Azores for a wqs prime event. It was the third prime I’ve competed in and I ended up getting 9th. I lost right in the last minute to Wiggoly Dantas when i made a mistake in letting him take a little wave when he needed a small score. Dang! Regardless, I was really stoked to get through some heats. The water in the Azores was crystal clear, warm, and mustered up some rippable waves for the contest. I was cruising with Tanner and Pat Gudauskas as well as Nate Yeomans. We were on a super good program surfing several times a day, playing lots of guitar, and eating good food. Those guys are so rad and keep every trip so positive and enjoyable. Here are a few photos from the week we had over there.

Way Back Wednesday!

Parker

This photo was taken back in the good old days when Conner and I were both doing contests every weekend up and down the California coast competing against kids in the National Scholastic Surfing Association (NSSA) events. With us in the photo is one of the most dedicated and surf stoked humans on the planet! Her name is Gaylene Clifford and she helps run the NSSA with Janice Aragon. Some of my favorite memories as little guy come from these events hanging out with my friends all day at the beach surfing against each other. This particular event was at C street and the waves were absolutely perfect. It was about three or four feet (I was about 3 feet tall so it was head high) and perfectly glassy all weekend. Conner and I were surfing in different divisions and both surfed our way to first place finishes. At the time, Hurley pretty much sponsored every kid who was in the contests and we all had these classic matching “Cow” wetsuits. I think they were trying to make them look like camo but that was a fail haha. Hopefully Conner and I can reenact this photo this year with some Junior and WQS trophies ! 33683_162569447107400_6057081_n
